Stay on Course

In life, one of the greatest challenges is staying on course. It really doesn’t matter what issue you want to discuss, the reality is that in the pursuit of vision, getting off course is part of reaching your end destination. There are any number of obstacles that will come up in life, it is how we respond to those obstacles that will determine if we reach our desired objective.

While what throws people off course is a factor, it is not the most important factor. It is what keeps people off course that we need to talk about. Mindset, perspective, and attitude are what is required to stay on course.  And there are many different components in our lives that shape what our mindset, perspective, and attitude are.

At the foundation of everything in my life is my Faith and the practice of it. It shapes my entire. How I live, how I think, how I  behave, it permeates all of my life. This solid foundation allows me to live a principle based lifestyle, and it is through those principles my mindset, perspective, and attitude get formed.

Why most people struggle to stay on course is not because of one or two events, it is because of the way other factors in their lives pull them down. It could be negative family members (this is a big one for SO MANY PEOPLE), it could be enabling friendships, it can be a lack of solidified principles in your own life, and it could it is just be simply easier to just give up and go with the flow.

Struggle is apart of life, and what seems to happen is that when someone is on the course to victory, life struggles occur that are meant to take them off course. People view these occurrences as if they were on a train and now the whole journey is destroyed because the train is derailed. We tend to have a false perspective that leads to us to just throwing in the towel and saying, I tried my best.”

Instead of viewing these life events as train derailments, try viewing them as if you were sailing and you have just simply veered a little off course. If you’re sailing across large bodies of water, a couple degrees off course in any direction you will end up in the completely wrong destination.

You don’t have to go back to the starting point to make a correction, you adjust and make the correction during the process of the journey!!! Doesn’t that seem less intimidating! Maybe you’ve had a bad day, or a bad month, or a bad year, or several bad years, it doesn’t mean you can’t start getting back on course. Embrace the vision, don’t turn around and head back to port, continue on the journey and start making your life course adjustments today!!!
